Cristina pacheco: this is how a great communicator has to write

Abstract

This essay aims to highlight for Communication students the professionalism of journalist Cristina Pacheco, who received Mexico’s National Journalism Award in 1985 for interview, in 1986 for community service programming, and in 1987 for chronicle. This descriptive, documentary-style study focuses on the analysis of her iconic television program Aquí nos tocó vivir, where Pacheco gave voice to often-overlooked groups: street vendors, farmers, laborers, artisans, and others. The research also explores points of convergence between her work and that of renowned journalist Ryszard Kapuściński, particularly in how both portrayed “the others.” From a qualitative perspective, the study argues that sharing the work of role models like Cristina Pacheco can inspire future generations of journalists to approach interviews with greater empathy and professionalism.
