Abstract
A theoretical and conceptual overview about the risk category is presented, embracing the idea that risk is socially constructed, in other words, the risk could be perceived as such by the antecedent of the symbolic universe of a particular social group and based on this is accepted or rejected. Then, from the general notes about the notion of risk and the dialogue established between various authors who have taken the task of formulating perspectives about this category, comes out the main contribution of this article: the risk as social construction, its stages, processes and a review of two proposals for a taxonomy of the actors involved.
